NEW YORK (AP) — Gerrit Cole threw a two-batter with 10 strikeouts for his fourth career shutout and second full game in the majors this season, and the New York Yankees beat the Twins 2- 0 Minnesota Sunday.
DJ LeMahieu homered and added an RBI single for the Yankees, who tied the four-game series at 2-2.
Cole (4-0) lowered his ERA to 0.95 in four starts. He finished the Twins with 109 pitches in just 2 hours and 7 minutes. He had the final nine outs in 25 minutes and retired Carlos Correa, his former Houston Astros teammate, with a steal for the Finals.
It was Cole’s seventh full career game and his first shutout since July 10, 2021 at Houston.
The other full game at the majors this year also featured Minnesota, with defending NL Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcántara throwing a three-hitter for Miami in a 1-0 win on April 4. .
For the Twins, Puerto Ricans Correa 4-0, Christian Vázquez 3-0 and Jorge Miranda 3-0. The Colombian Donovan Solano of 3-1.
