SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Klay Thompson scored 33 of 38 points in the first half, Stephen Curry added 23 points with seven rebounds and five assists, and the Golden State Warriors beat the Phoenix Suns 123-112 Monday night .
Jordan Poole finished with 20 points and six assists as a substitute for the defending champions. Kevon Looney helped the Warriors pick up their eighth home win and 12th in the last 13 games with nine points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Golden State is 29-7 at home but only 7-26 on the road.
Devin Booker had 32 points and Deandre Ayton had 27 points and 12 rebounds for the Suns, who woke up in the second half to make things interesting.
Josh Okogie hit a 3-pointer with 4:59 left in the third quarter to pull Phoenix 85-81 and his shot a minute later made it 87-84 before Curry and company launched another attack.
The game heated up in the final minutes when JaMychal Green and former Warriors point guard Damion Lee each received technical fouls with 1:12 remaining.
