An 18-year-old boy, identified as Alexander Torres, complained that hospital staff in the Lima Maternity they committed medical negligence, thus causing the death of their newborn.
He traveled to Lima with his 16-year-old partner to receive better attention as part of his Babebut both were abused by hospital doctors, according to their complaint.
According to her testimony to Panamericana, the doctors knew that the mother had a high risk pregnancy. However, they refused to perform a caesarean, which would have caused the death of the baby.
It all started when they arrived in the region of the emergencies, where medical staff took too long to get a wheelchair for her partner. According to Alexander Torres, he had to find one to help his companion.
“We went through an emergency and the doctors took a long time to get him a wheelchair: I had to run to get one. They did a checkup and found that she was 2 dilated. My partner was writhing in pain. My partner had a high risk pregnancy, as well as a narrow pelvis; For this reason, I insisted that if she did not dilate, that they perform a caesarean section, but they did not pay attention to me,” he said.
During the woman’s second ultrasound, her heart rate new born they were no longer heard; however, they waited an hour for the patient to collapse and vomit.

“When they no longer heard the baby’s heartbeat, they waited another hour. It wasn’t immediate. Just when my partner started to pass out, they did a caesarean and they pulled out my dead baby,” he said.

According to Torres, two doctors entered her partner’s room to convince her not to report the incident.
“Two doctors came in to bribe her, to tell her to ask them anything she wants to keep the case there,” he said.
