The national government, through the director of the National Agency for Controlled Materials (ANMac), Natacha Loizouauthorized the purchase of 60 tasers that had been acquired by the municipal police. This is an old claim of the administration of Horace Rodriguez Larretawhich returned to the center of public debate after the murder of the municipal police officer, Maribel Salazar, who was shot dead with her weapon in the subway C.

In mid-February, the government of Buenos Aires had filed an amparo appeal with the courts for the delay in resolving the administrative file in order to be able to import weaponsappeal which was accepted by the federal judge of administrative litigation Walter Correa, which imposed a definition on the State within a period of 30 daysdate that was going to be filled next week.
However, and despite the political reading that has been made of the claim, the delay has not only affected the city of Buenos Aires. There are many other provinces waiting. In ANMac, several procedures have been stopped since 2016.

After learning of Casa Rosada’s decision, Buenos Aires Security Minister Marcelo D’Alessandro – on leave – wrote a message on his social networks. “We had to push and lose officials to get the national government to allow Tasers today. We have fought for years for false progressivism to understand that those who care for us must be endowed with the best. Great news, which comes very late,” he said.
Taser guns are electronic weapons regulated and controlled by Law No. 20,429 of 1975 on Weapons and Explosives and Decrees Nos. 395/75 and 1039/89. Its use and acquisition by Argentine security forces and police was defined legislatively and politically in the 1980s, when it was incorporated into national arms control regulations, as controlled material, according to reports.
Under these regulations, the ANMaC (formerly RENAR) is responsible for controlling the register of the acquisition, import and export of controlled materials, while the security forces and the police are responsible for determining and to regulate the use of weapons within the framework of their internal regulations.
The Argentine Federal Police is dealing with the import of 100 pistols electronics, the acquisition of which has been authorized to be intended for the Special Groups of the Gendarmerie and the Prefecture.

This lot corresponds to the T7 model, with its corresponding AB3 Kit, accessories, cartridges and licenses, for a total amount of $293,490which will be acquired over the counter, through the firm Axon Enterprise INC., as can be read in the resolution published in the Official Journal on January 4 on the purchase process which began in October 2022 and n is not finished yet.
With regard to the purchase made by the Government of Buenos Aires, it was 60 TASER guns, model X26P. These types of weapons are considered non-lethal and are used in some crowded places where the use of firearms can be dangerous, such as train stations, subways. They fire an electric shock that paralyzes the person.
For its part, the Argentine Federal Police is processing the import of 100 electronic pistols, the acquisition of which has been authorized, which will be destined for the special groups GEOF, G.E1 and UTIF.
