A Destiny 2 tradition, the World’s First Raid Races bring together FPS gaming’s most elite and dedicated players in teams of six to see who will be the first in the world to collectively solve puzzles, take down bosses, and defeat complete challenging raid objectives. Without tutorials or guides, these races can sometimes last all day, giving players the chance to take infrequent breaks as they progress. You will, however, be rewarded for logging in on the day the Destiny 2 Lightfall raid launches, as there are a few Twitch available for avid fans.
The world’s first raid races often draw large viewership, as even viewers who have never played Destiny 2 find themselves supporting different teams in the race to be the first to complete the raid. Players can tune into Twitch to receive these rewards starting March 10 at the Destiny 2 daily reset time at 9am PST / noon EST / 5pm GMT.
The only requirements to collect the emblems are that players must connect their Bungie accounts to Twitch to earn the rewards and must watch for two hours. For the Particle Acceleration emblem, viewers can watch any participating content creator play the raid in contest mode, which will last for 48 hours from the initial launch of the raid. For the Dim Italics emblem, players must watch the raid race on Twitch Rivals for two hours while it’s live.
Along with the emblems, Bungie released a trailer showing off the first global event.
Destiny 2 raids are notoriously difficult endeavors. The stakes are especially high this time around, as it’s an all-new raid that will likely also feature new puzzles and mechanics. By comparison, the latest raid introduced to the game, Destiny 2’s King’s Fall raid, is a remake of the original Destiny raid of the same name.
Players also suspect that this raid will answer some questions about the importance of the veil and its role in multiplayer lore. However, Bungie has only released a few details about the raid, so it’s too early to tell what it will entail.
“Transported from an unknown location and time, an ominous presence has been detected. Now we must deal with the ancient threat growing at our doorstep,” reads the description on Lightfall’s official website.
Players who complete the raid within a given time can also earn the chance to purchase a raid jacket, which features a colorful interior.
The Destiny 2 clan to beat is the Elysium clan, who won three first world races for Destiny 2 Vault of Glass, King’s Fall and Vow of the Disciple, and came second behind Deep Stone Crypt.
