While Daredevil was arguably the most popular Marvel series on Netflix, the platform’s version of The Punisher also garnered public acclaim. It has now been confirmed that Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as The Punisher in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series, Daredevil: Born Again. The production will feature the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, and Vincent D’Onofrio will also return as Wilson Fisk aka Center pivot (Although Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) seem out of the question.)
We guess Disney has more surprises in store for The Punisher in the future as they bring him back. It’s also been confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again won’t be as violent as the Netflix series, and one can’t help but wonder how Bernthal’s take on the character, which was delightfully violent, will fit in.
Although representatives from Marvel Studios, Disney+ and Bernthal have yet to comment on the matter, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the news. Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere at early 2024 for Disney+.
