The wait is over: Final Fantasy XIV players finally got a glimpse of the third Deep Dungeon to be added to the game in patch 6.35, Eureka Orthos. Two images of Eureka Orthos were shown in the 74th Live Letter from the Producer, subject to change as they are still in development at the time of this writing. The highlight is that they seem to feature Allagan technology in dungeon environments. That’s what we know from Eureka Orthos.

Requirements to Unlock Eureka Orthos

Players will need to have completed the main scenario quest “Endwalker” and cleared the 50th floor of the Palace of the Dead, the first deep dungeon to be released in Final Fantasy XIV. Eureka Orthos is the first Deep Dungeon to release since the Stormblood expansion and will require players to be level 81 to queue. The unlock quest can be found in Mor Dhona (X: 21.8, Y: 8.1), where you will need to speak to Koh Rabntah. This will start the “Dig Into Myth” quest, which will then unlock Eureka Orthos.

Once unlocked, you can enter Eureka Orthos by speaking to Khatun in Mor Dhona (X: 34.8, Y: 19.2). Please note that if you are entering with a party, all members of your party must be in the same instance on Mor Dhona in order to enter Eureka Orthos.

How Eureka Orthos will work in Final Fantasy XIV

Like its predecessors, players will have the option of running it in groups of up to four people or solo. There will be nine floors in a typical floor set, followed by a final boss on the top floor. Progress will be saved between sets of floors, and clearing a floor will require players to start over from the beginning.

As with all deep dungeons, Eureka Orthos will feature a separate leveling system, meaning that the levels players gain in the dungeon will not translate to their levels outside of it. All players will start the Deep Dungeon instance at level 81, regardless of job level, gradually accessing their level 81-90 skill pool as they progress through the instance, earning EXP by killing mobs that spawn. all over the floor.

Your equipped gear and stats won’t matter, as you’ll gain stats as you progress through Eureka Orthos, similar to the Aetherpool Armor and Aetherpool Arm possessed by Palace of the Dead and Heaven- on-High. Does this mean you can enter the instance without gear equipped? Absolutely. The Orthos Aetherpool armour/arm will not transfer from the Palace of the Dead or Sky Above.

Once you successfully complete the 30th floor of Eureka Orthos, the “Rage Extinguished” side quest will unlock, allowing players to start from either the 1st floor or the 21st floor on future saves. If you start on the 21st floor, you and your party will be leveled to 90 and your inventories will be cleared of protomands and demiclones.
