Hugh Howey’s bestselling trilogy of dystopian novels will air on TV in Silo, a drama series of the same name developed by Apple TV+. Created by Graham Yost (Band of brothers there Justified: Raylan’s Law), the story takes place in a world inhabited by only ten thousand people under a mile deep to protect themselves from the poisonous and deadly landscapes outside.
Rebecca Ferguson (Dunes there Impossible mission) is the protagonist and also the executive producer of this sci-fi title which will arrive in May this year. A first preview was released Monday and features engineer Juliette (Ferguson) on her mission to solve the murder of a loved one and a mystery surrounding life on the planet. She will deduce that if the lie does not kill, the truth will.
In reality, no one knows when or why the silo was built, and it is not possible to trace its origin. Any citizen who dares to investigate will face fatal consequences, so the protagonist will have to watch her back or she could be killed.
“In a ruined and toxic future, thousands of people live in a giant underground silo. After his sheriff breaks a cardinal rule and residents mysteriously die, Engineer Juliet begins to uncover shocking secrets and the truth about the silo,” reads the official synopsis shared by Apple TV+.

Silo –based on the literary series also known as Woolwritten by Hugh Howey – will include ten episodes written by Emmy-nominated Graham Yost, also listed as showrunner. Additionally, the project is directed by Morten Tyldum (The riddle code), Oscar-nominated filmmaker, in the first three chapters. The fiction was produced by AMC Studios. Yost, Howey, Tyldum and Ferguson, along with Nina Jack, Fred Golan, Rémi Aubuchon and Ingrid Escajeda serve as executive producers.
The cast will also consist of Common (The Chi); Harriet Walter, Emmy nominee (Succession); Chinaza Uché (Dickinson); Avi Nash (The Walking Dead); Critics Choice Award and NAACP winner David Oyelowo (Selma); Rashida Jones, Emmy nominee (Parks and recreation); and Oscar winner Tim Robbins (the mystical river).
The first two episodes of Silo will launch on May 5 on Apple TV+, and the rest of the season will be split into weekly premieres through the end of June.
