One enemy you’ll need to farm for Chaos Devices, Chaos Circuits, or Chaos Cores in Genshin Impact is the Ruin Guard, an elite mob that’s been around since the start of the game. While you’ll first encounter this hostile humanoid machine in Mondstadt , you will quickly realize while exploring Teyvat that the Ruin Guards can be found in all regions of the world map. Some areas have more of these automatons than others, but the abundance of this enemy mob means it will be hard not to come across one when exploring and traversing Teyvat.

Every Ruin Guard location in Mondstadt in Genshin Impact

Starting in Mondstadt, you’ll find around seven Ruin Guards spread throughout the region. One can be found near Stormbearer Point, another in the Temple of the Thousand Winds, and two more on an unmarked island off the east coast of Mondstadt. Two are in Stormterror’s Lair and another resides in Brightcrown Canyon.
Every Ruin Guard location in Liyue in Genshin Impact

Liyue is by far the best region to farm Ruin Guard parts in Genshin Impact due to its abundance of humanoid automatons compared to other provinces. Five are located in the nearby ruins and ridges of Jueyun Karst, and three are south of the Guili Plains. The Dunyu Ruins contain four of them, including one located at the eastern end of Yaoguang Bench and another north of Mingyun Village. Finally, there are four on the lower central island of the Guyun Stone Forest Archipelago. Although not technically part of Liyue, you can find a Ruin Guard in the depths of The Chasm.

The Inazuma Nation has the fewest Ruin Guard locations in Genshin Impact, with just one on the northern side of Narukami Island and five around the northern and southern sections of Tsurumi Island.
Every Ruin Guard location on Sumeru in Genshin Impact

Finally, the Sumeru region of Genshin Impact has a Ruin Guard location near the Dahri Ruins and another on top of the mountain east of Apam Woods. Five can be found spread east, south and west of Mount Damavand, with one sitting on the southern ridge overlooking Khaj-Nisut. Finally, two are in the Dahri Valley.

It is important that the Genshin Impact Ruin Guard locations mentioned above can only be found in the overworld of Teyvat. For example, two can be found in the underground region of The Chasm. Additionally, some can spawn during quests, like the one you fight near the Dahri Ruins during the Aranyaka questline. Finally, the Ruin Guards that appear in Bounties do not have their locations listed.
