Since Xbox’s acquisitions of Obsidian and Bethesda, the two companies behind Fallout: New Vegas in 2010, fan desires for a modern remaster of the Xbox 360 RPG have been high. That said, the notion of “New Vegas Remastered” is clearly not a fan wish either.
In a new interview with The Gamer, longtime Obsidian developer Tim Cain discussed all things Fallout, The Outer Worlds, and the studio’s upcoming projects. Here are a few things about the classic RPG, including Cain himself mentioning how “awesome” a New Vegas remaster would be.
“It’s not for me to decide, but wouldn’t a graphical remaster of Fallout: New Vegas be amazing?”
Unfortunately, no New Vegas-related plans appear to be locked in at this time, but it sounds like something the series creator would be interested in. Given that the team just announced a “remaster” of their 2019 RPG The Outer Worlds, and as we mentioned above Xbox owns the two companies involved in the original, this seems like a real possibility. .
At least the original is still easy to access and enjoy, especially on Xbox where it’s backward compatible and FPS increased to 60fps. It’s certainly a good thing, too: Obsidian is well aware that fans are still revisiting the 2010 RPG more than a decade after its release.
“People can come back to this (New Vegas) game because (of) these characters and the stories. This environment is just rich and people want to be there.”
