It was recently rumored that none of the big three console makers (Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft) would appear at E3 this year, and now Nintendo has confirmed their absence.
A few years ago, such a decision would have been considered quite bizarre. However, with the proliferation of presentations of exclusivities and first parts online, like Nintendo Direct or PlayStation State of Plays, it seems the gaming giants prefer to go their own way.
Speaking to Venture Beat about their absence from E3, Nintendo said the following:
“We approach our participation in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering ways to engage with our fans. Since this year’s E3 was not in our plans, we have decided not to participate. However, we have been and continue to be a strong supporter of ESA and E3.”
E3 won’t be empty even without these heavyweights, as Konami is supposed to reveal some big headlines at the event, and there could also be a big reveal from Ubisoft.
Despite that, are you excited to see what happens at E3 this year?
