“We begin 2023 with 13 nationwide femicides that have been reported in the media. We continue to raise alerts and note with concern that of the State there is no concrete proposal to deal with this problem,” the NGO said.
He explained that three of the reported murders took place in the state of Carabobo, two in Aragua, two others in Caracas and one each in the states of Sucre, Miranda, Bolívar, Zulia, Barinas and Portuguesa.
“In four cases the femicides were committed with a firearm, in one case a knife was used, in four cases the cause was due to beatings, in three cases mechanical suffocation and in one case the cause of femicide has not been determined,” he said. said. .
Utopix explained that among the murders recorded, in four the victim’s body was left on the public highway, in two cases the women were missing and in two others they were tortured before being killed.
About the managers, the organization assured that five are detainedthree fled, one committed suicide and there is no information on the other four.
As for the victims, two were mothers and another was indigenous to the Wayú ethnic group.

According to this NGO, at least 236 women died at the hands of femicides in Venezuela in 2022and only last December, 25 murders of women for gender reasons were counted.
For its part, the Venezuelan public prosecutor’s office recorded 1,201 cases of femicides, some of them “frustrated”, from August 2017 to the end of November 2022, a period during which 1,081 suspected femicides were charged and 443 convicted.
