Between June 14 and December 31, 1962, eight women were murdered. Between March 6 and November 23, 1963, four suffered the same fate. And on January 4, 1964, 19-year-old Mary Sullivan brought the bloody streak to a close. They all died strangled (with a stocking, a bra, a scarf) and were raped. The victims lived alone in apartments with unlocked locks, and it all happened in Boston, Massachusetts.
The murderer left them on the bed with their legs open (mimicking the position of childbirth) and finished the scene by making a bow with the garment used to kill them. No one has been officially charged with ending the lives of these women. However, the killer or suspected killer was sentenced to life imprisonment and went down in Red Chronicle history as “The Boston Strangler”. His name was Albert Henry DeSalvo and he died in 1973 from a stab wound.
