After conducting a witness investigation, investigators identified a possible suspect in the crime: victim’s partnerlater identified as Stephen Rojas, who was seen arguing with her on Sunday morning. Accordingly, the prosecutor in charge of the case, Paul Recchini —of the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 44— asked the judge Mariano Iturralde —of Court No. 16 of the same jurisdiction— to issue an arrest warrant to find and detain Rojas, who is accused of having “homicide aggravated by the use of a firearm and mediated by gender-based violence”.
As part of the search, detectives from the City Police Homicide Division carried out last night, on the orders of prosecutor Recchini and judge Iturralde, a search of suspect’s mother’s home. The result of the procedure was negative.
“We are looking for him, but he had many hours, almost a whole day, to escape: from the dawn of the crime until the discovery of the body. We suspect he may have been to Paraguay and we also know he has money“, said telam a source of research.
Investigators also seized the DVRs with the security videos of the building where the femicide took place and where all the units belong to the accused —even his ex-wife lives on the third floor, with a daughter—, although according to the family of the victim Rojas would have disconnected the cameras.

In turn, by order of the prosecution and the court, the police were collecting the first testimonies from those who had spent the night with the couple and from neighbors who that morning had seen the two arrive at their home in the Zavaleta neighborhood , but they saw him leave Rojas alone in the building and retire to his car. For the relatives of the 28-year-old woman, a comment about an ex his could have been femicide motive.
According to the reconstruction that the investigators were able to make, Sunday morning Ferni, the now wanted Rojas and five other people from the same group of friends they went dancing in a bowling alley in the Constitution. There were also two of the victim’s sisters, who saw her.”distraught and want to cry”.
According to one, named Clara, there was a friend in the group “who said to Esteban: “Take care of her (Ferni), she’s a good girl. Appreciate it. She suffered a lot in her previous relationship.”.
“I don’t know if he named my sister’s ex and that’s what bothered Rojas, but he said to the boy: ‘You name him again and I’ll break your head. Something like that’. I think that’s what started it all,” Clara said.
And I add:It can’t stay like this, no woman can die like this”.
The victim’s sister commented that Ferni and Rojas “they lived together about seven months ago, but they were together a year or a year and a half ago” and although he claimed to have “never” seen a situation of violence between them, they learned yesterday that the man had “three or four complaints” from a former partner.
Meanwhile, Alicia, another of Ferni’s sisters, assured the channel C5N that Rojas had a criminal record for “gender violence” and “homicide”, for which he was imprisoned for four years. “Something happened: we noticed that he was very jealous. I checked his cell phoneWhen a message rang or arrived, he was attentive to it, he killed her out of jealousy”, she says.
