Maximiliano Breide Obeid, responsible for the sex crimes area of the Neuquén public prosecutor’s office, requested the convening of an oral hearing to formally accuse five former workers of Tenaris, the company Grupo Techint which supplies the pipes for the gas pipeline Nestor Kirchner, for sexual abuse of a partner.
Judicial sources informed GlobeLiveMedia that the prosecutor requested the summons to the hearing. This is the “charge hearing” where the accused are summoned and told of the charge against them. The preliminary investigation against him is also open, which must last a period of four months to deepen it and offer the evidence so that the case goes to oral judgment. The five defendants have already appointed lawyers.
It now remains for the judge in charge of the case to set the date for the hearing, which should be in March.
The event for which the court case has been opened occurred last December and there are five people charged with the crime of sexual abuse. The five defendants were fired by Tenaris along with three supervisors. The event generated a claim by the union which, after discovering what had happened, blocked the entrance to the factory, which was lifted by a judicial eviction order.

In Senillosa, Technit has the company Tenaris, in charge of the construction of the pipes of the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline. The victim had started working for the company in early December. During his first week on the job, he said he was sexually abused by five colleagues.
He says that one day, when he arrived at the factory, when he was going to the locker room to change, some colleagues told him that he had to “Celebrate the Birthday” for his new job. In the locker room, they abused him. The same thing happened in the company van that transports them from the factory.
Concretely, she denounced having touched her private parts, supported hers and wanted to kiss her on the mouth. The employee raised the matter in Tenaris’ transparency area. She recounted what happened and provided a physical description of the attackers or their nicknames since she did not know them by name.
The judiciary has launched an investigation. He analyzed the security cameras and was able to determine by the day and time of the events who were the other employees who entered the locker room or who got into the van. So they could be identified. Additionally, he added testimonials from other employees. Some of them are direct witnesses of what happened who corroborate the facts.

The sources consulted even indicated that the witnesses said that it was not the first time that this had happened, but that it was a kind of initiation rite. and that they themselves had been victims but had not dared to denounce it. The sources predicted that the criminal case could be extended to these other facts.
Tenaris laid off eight people: the five defendants and the three guards for their complicity with the facts. In addition, three other people were suspended. The union criticized the measure for understanding that the dismissals cannot be carried out until there is a court ruling confirming the fact. They even took control of the factory and prevented the entry of trucks. A court decision ordered the eviction.
The victim and the company appeared before the criminal justice to denounce the fact. In recent days, prosecutor Breide Obeid added evidence on the identification of the defendants and their identities.
