Quito, 19 Feb. La Liga de Quito beat Deportivo Cuenca 3-0 on Sunday and this Sunday won the Edgardo Bauza Champions Cup, the friendly tournament that bears the name of the Argentine coach with whom the Quito club was crowned champion of the Copa Libertadores in 2008.
“One hundred percent dedicated to ‘Patón’ Edgardo Bauza. He is a great coach. The victory is dedicated to him. We had extra pressure because the Cup bears his name,” said Argentine coach Luis Zubeldía, current coach of the team, at the end of the white game.
The afternoon was round for the League, which paid a football tribute to the coach who led him to win the most important title in the history of Ecuadorian football.
The goals for Albo’s triumph were from José Angulo, Leonel Quiñónez and Ángel González, much to the delight of fans of the Quito team who attended at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium.
