In a recent interview, Shigeru Miyamoto He said he didn’t like being compared to Steven Spielberg, but was “honoured” by Disney’s comparisons.

Miyamoto has drawn several comparisons due to his creations and contributions to the world of video games over several decades. It featured Mario, one of the franchise’s most recognizable and beloved characters, as well as other hits like The Legend of Zelda. Steven Spielberg enjoyed similar success in the film industry and was responsible for many iconic films.

When asked about GameSpot about comparisons with Spielberg and those who say that Nintendo is the Disney of the world of video games, Miyamoto mentioned:

“As you said, I’ve also been called the Spielberg of the gaming world, but I don’t really like it. I’m Miyamoto. Miyamoto is Miyamoto, and Nintendo is Nintendo. However, I’m very honored to to be compared to Disney. But that being said, rather than comparing Nintendo to Disney, I feel like Disney to some extent, especially for families, (represents) a sense of ease for families.

I feel like Nintendo is well known for video games and video games don’t usually mean silence. But Nintendo is associated with video games and the fact that Nintendo is compared to Disney really gives me the (confidence) that we have reached a point where we can bring Nintendo to the concept of reassurance and maybe (give it). So that’s something that I really feel like we were able to achieve and I’m happy. And beyond that, I think it really depends on Mr. Takashi and how he handles everything. So why not ask him?
