At the start of the game, during the Wild Hearts tutorial section, you are shown a strange device on the hunter’s arm. This device is then used to build platforms so you can climb to higher places and progress through the story. However, simply staying in town and trying to build Karakuri will have no effect and will not advance the quest.

To complete the Fisherman’s Guild job called Hunter’s Mighty Arm, you need to mount the creature and use the Hunters Arm attack. This work combines two different techniques. First, you need to jump to the creature and mount it. This is done in the same way as rock climbing. Run towards the creature, jump and hold R1/RB. This will mount the creature. Then you can climb up and try to hang on.
The second part is to target an exposed weak point on the beast. These are bright blue areas that have been damaged and exposed. If you are riding the creature and are near one of these locations, the Hunters Arm attack indicator will appear. This is R2/RT on PlayStation and Xbox, the same key that performs your charged attack.
Repeat this process twice to complete The Hunters Mighty Arm and complete the quest.
