After the deep drought in software sales of the previous week, the Spanish video game market finally woke up in 2023, thanks almost exclusively to the premiere on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X of Hogwarts Legacy, the open world title of Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. . Games. A launch that Spanish users have been eagerly awaiting, but which unfortunately has not been accompanied by an increase in sales of consoles with which to move the title.
There week 6 of 2023, from February 6 to 12 is dominated by what we already consider to be the first major cross-platform release of the new generation, which disappeared from store shelves and ended up in the hands of over 43,000 users, more than 30,000 including for the PS5 version. Again, it’s worth noting here that the Deluxe Edition of the game on the Sony console (which offered 72-hour early access to content, in addition to other exclusives) meant the half of total sales. Indeed, in the top 10, the very expensive and not so limited The collector’s edition in its PlayStation 5 version has been left out of very little with its more than a thousand copies sold. On Xbox Series the adventure of wizards slightly exceeds the 10,000 copies.
If we move away a little from the Hogwarts grounds, the trend remains similar for the rest of the regulars on the list, without any notable surprise. Nintendo Switch Sports remains at the 2,000 unit barrier, nearly on par with The Last of Us Part I, which continues to enjoy the television appeal of the HBO Max series. FIFA 23 and God of War have slowed down slightly in recent weeks, and Pokémon continues to deliver “thunder shocks” of similar tension to previous tallies after the holiday season.

Console sales: the PlayStation 5 returns to overtake a Switch which remains stable
2023 consolidates the trend of PlayStation 5 as the new leader in console sales in our country, although the numbers are still not enough to meet demand, and the mandatory packs are still giving their last blows to national economies. Even so, there is 9,000 new PlayStation 5 users in our country, of which eight ninths were for the model with a drive. The Nintendo Switch remains in the range of 4,000 units sold, at a two-to-one ratio in favor of the OLED version. The Xbox Series, however, just over a thousand units sold, partly due to the lack of its own releases from Microsoft, which continues to wait for exclusives such as Redfall, Forza and even a release date for Starfield to arrive.
