The Swedish group Embracer can consider the third quarter of the 2022 financial year as very successful: the profits recorded are in the millions of dollars, thanks, in large part, to Evil West.
The Swedish company Embracer Games has published the report for the third quarter of the financial year 2022 (October – December) reporting a 128% increase in net sales over the same period Last year. This represents an increase in revenue, in SEK, of approximately $0.44 billion to $1 billion.
PC and consoles clearly in the dark
This result is made up of the turnover of:
- PC and console games: +64%, from $193 million to $317 million;
- mobile games: +2%, from $135 million to $140 million;
- table games (board and card games): down 5%, from $384 million to $366 million;
- in the entertainment and services category: 71% from more than $120 million to $206 million.
Contrary to In the first nine months of fiscal 2022 (the period from April to December), the company generated $2.51 billionrecording sales growth of 56% in the PC and console games categories and 43% in mobile games during this period.
Evil West a success
The company also listed its top-grossing games in the published report, but did not provide specific numbers. Revenue growth was primarily driven by two games released in November 2022: goat simulator 3 there Bad West. The former received high marks and met management’s expectations, despite the title being released exclusively on the Epic Games Store (for PC) and current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S). The second was well received by gamers and delighted management with high sales.
Additionally, the company noted that older titles continue to generate good revenue and contributed significantly to the bottom line. These include titles like Deep Rock Galactic, Hot Wheels Unleashed, Insurgency: Sandstorm, SnowRunner, Star Trek Online, Chivalry 2 or Borderlands 3.
The giant is preparing interesting matches for the years to come. Currently Embracer member companies are working on 31 AAA projects, 19 of which will launch before March 2026. The company’s next big game will be Dead Island 2 with a scheduled release on April 21, 2023, followed by Homeworld 3 (debuting in June). This year we will see games like: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II, Remnant II and PayDay 3.
