Berlin, February 15 The Munich Security Conference (MSC) today warned of the impact of the planned strike at the Bavarian capital’s airport on the unfolding of this event, which will bring together world leaders world, such as French President Emmanuel Macron and US Vice President Kamala Harris.
“The strike will not only affect private plans or business trips, but also the Conference”, reports the MSC organization via its twitter account, where it is recalled that hundreds of representatives of governments and organizations of five continents.
The message goes on to ensure that contact is made “with all those involved and with our guests to mitigate their possible impacts”.
German service sector union Ver.di today announced 17 ground staff strikes at major airports in Germany, including Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Stuttgart.
Ver.di sources assured that the strike could paralyze the operation of these airports throughout the day, especially with regard to Frankfurt and Munich.
MSC President Christoph Heusgen announced last Monday the presence of Harris and Macron, as well as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and political representatives from five continents.
On the other hand, the representatives of Russia will not be present, confirmed Heusgen, according to whom the MSC decided not to invite this year the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, a regular in Munich during previous editions.
The MSC also did not invite any deputies from the Alternative for Germany (AfD), a far-right party considered pro-Russian and the only one from the German parliamentary spectrum that will not be present in Munich.
The war in Ukraine is the dominant theme of the event, which will begin on the 17th and last until the 19th, days before the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
