Since Warner Bros. and Discovery have merged into one mega-company, it was planned for some time that they would merge their two hitherto separate streaming services, Discovery+ and HBO Max. But it seems that is no longer a possibility.
The Wall Street Journal confirms that the two services will remain separate, but says the company still plans to offer a “superservice” with programming from both offerings.
This appears to be due to Warner Bros. Discovery is concerned that Discovery+ subscribers around the world won’t want to upgrade to a “great service” more expensive. Market indications indicate that the unnamed service is more expensive than the two separate services.
