After dropping in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘She-Hulk’, we tell you all about the triumphant return of Matt Murdock with his first series in Marvel’s UCM
It has been waiting, but it is here. Disney’s last D23 2022 announced several Marvel novelties, such as ‘The Thunderbolts’ and ‘Loki 2’, but the focus was placed especially on one of them: ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, the most anticipated future Disney+ series of the Marvel Phase 5 . What do we have so far on Matt Murdock’s new stunts?
‘Daredevil: Born Again’: release date
There is no specific date, filming has not even begun, but we do know three things: that it will premiere in 2024 on Disney+, that it will be one of the strong points of Phase 5 of the UCM and that it will consist of 18 episodes.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’: context and synopsis
The most important thing is to know the reason for the title. We could say, out of courtesy, that ‘Daredevil’ was created in 1964 by Stan Lee, Bill Everett and Jack Kirby. And, well, let’s leave it at that it is not the best stage of the character, something that the scriptwriter and cartoonist Frank Miller can boast of, who in 1979 would become part of the head and would give us the best stories starring the little horns.
One of them was, of course, ‘Born Again’, a title chosen by Feige and company, therefore, by no means coincidental. Talking about this title is not just talking about one of the best ‘Daredevil’ comics, it’s talking about an outstanding work that is among the best of the publisher (by the way, those 80s, between Miller and his ‘Daredevil’, Chris Claremont leading ‘The X-Patrol’ and Walter Simonson elevating ‘The Mighty Thor’ to the altars of Asgard).
‘Born Again’ would mark Miller’s return to Marvel after disembarking at DC Comics, counting on the excellent cartoonist David Mazzucchelli (‘Batman: Year One’), and together they would carry out in 1986 the plot arc of the collection that would include the numbers 227-233.
In order not to make too many spoilers about a work that everyone should read, we will only ask you the following question: What would happen if the always feared Kingpin discovered Daredevil’s secret identity?
‘Daredevil: Born Again’: cast and characters
After the cancellation of the ‘Daredevil’ series by Netflix, as we all know from the arrival of Disney+, we spent three years without knowing anything about the character, but the UCM is larger than life and had plans for him.
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ marked the return of Daredevil in a brief and funny appearance and, since then, Charlie Cox has been in charge of affirming that he will appear again in Marvel, and he has fulfilled it. Since then, we have seen him in ‘She-Hulk: She-Hulk Lawyer’, something that was already hinted at in 1×05 of the Jennifer Walters series and that, finally, we were able to witness in ‘She-Hulk’ 1×08, with She-Hulk and her great love story with Daredevil. Now we know that we will also have Murdock and Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) in ‘Echo’, the future series starring Alaqua Cox.
And what about ‘Daredevil: Born Again’? Well, we know that, for now, we will have four old acquaintances:
Charlie Cox will return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, as will Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Along with them, the return of Deborah Ann Woll is also confirmed as Karen Page, the romantic interest of Matt Murdock, and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Matt’s faithful friend.
The first new incorporation is that of Michael Gandolfini, the son of the remembered James Gandolfini and protagonist of the prequel to ‘ The Sopranos ‘ ‘ Holy Criminals ‘. Michael will play Liam, an “ambitious kid from Staten Island” in a role that has been called “important” within the series.
Throughout the months, we will know who else joins the cast. Our bet? We believe that the greenish Tatiana Maslany will also drop by the series.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’: director
It is still unknown who or who will be chosen to direct the return of Daredevil, but we do know that the screenwriters Matt Corman and Chris Ord, both creators and directors of ‘Covert Affairs’, will be in charge of the script . Will they also repeat as directors? We’ll see.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’: trailer and images
In this regard, the expected Marvel production is in its infancy, except for the logo of the series, which you can see below. We will update this section when we have more information.
