The First Lady Jill Biden gave a speech in front of a group of Democratic women in which she stressed that Republicans underestimated the power of women by attacking their rights, but she confirmed that together, “we will make sure you never make that mistake again.”
Dr. Jill Biden was present at the Democratic National Committee Women’s Leadership Forum annual breakfast where she gave a speech supporting the rights that women have in the country and criticizing those who try to repress them.
“Extremists attack rights supported by the vast majority of Americans, such as a woman’s right to choose, or when they get in the way of affordable prescriptions or clean energy, they are letting all Americans down,” the first lady said.
Jill Biden referred to the Supreme Court ruling after overturning Roe vs. Wade where she leaves each of the states to decide their own laws on abortion and what has had an impact on American society.
After the annulment, President Biden has signed two orders to allow women to have access to reproductive health services, contrary to some Republicans such as Senator Graham of South Carolina who presented a law on September 13 to ban abortion. national after 15 weeks.
“It makes me angry to see politicians who treat government like a sport and perform political tricks to score some points more against the other side, but there are no teams for or against, just people,” said Dr. Biden.
Jill Biden told the women gathered at the event that they helped her husband become president of the United States, adding: “And we will decide what happens in November in the electoral contests because we don’t just get mad, we get to work.”
According to AP Vote Cast statistics, 55% of women who voted in the 2020 presidential election voted for Joe Biden against 43% who extended their vote to Donald Trump.
“Republican leaders have underestimated the power of women, but we’re going to make sure they never make that mistake again.” Jill Biden emphasized.
Likewise, she stated that the proposals that her husband has delivered have been approved with the votes in the Senate and which will benefit Americans, but stressed that if there were more Democrats in Congress, more good things could be done.
“We could restore the rights of women to make our own decisions about our own bodies,” she shared.
She continued: “Some of the most transformative legislation in generations has been signed into law by President Joe Biden and we did it with just 50 votes in the Senate, imagine what Joe and his administration could do with more partners in the House and Senate!”
The first lady recalled that the spokeswoman for the Republican Committee had said that women are suffering in Joe Biden’s America, due to the increase in crime, inflation, the shortage of baby formula, among other problems.
“There are real lives at stake here, you know that, and I know it makes you angry. I should make you mad, but we can decide what we’re going to do, and what women do is win”, Biden argued.
On the other hand, Dr. Biden was with her husband at the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration that took place at the White House, where she also gave an encouraging message to the Hispanic community, which occupies 20% of the the United States.
“During Hispanic Heritage Month, we often highlight the stories of great moments and the people who created them. Those who shouted until they were heard, those who created movements, whose stories end up in our history books,” she commented during her speech.
And she also shared, “that story is here today. As politicians and poets, as artists and organizers, they shape our nation every day. Joe and I are proud to be by your side to celebrate your victories, big and small.”
